I wasn't sure if anyone else had heard about this rumor... evidentally if you play thru the game a minimum of 5 times (sometimes more) until you get a 100% score you can unlock usually "restricted" areas and items in the game.  In particular I heard you can pick up the glucose and distilled water in the school chem storage room, pick up the motor and oil inside the gas station on the way to the church, blow up a barrier to access an ambulance by the hospital, and use the motor and oil to start it up and actually DRIVE it around town.  There's a lot more to this... I've only heard about this from one source... it was an old walkthru I had downloaded years ago.  In fact, I still have this stored on my computer.  If anyone would like, I can paste this section in another post, or add the walkthru as an attachment (if you can do that here, that is.)

Lol.

Hate to say it, but that sounds like something that some 11 year-old would make up, so he'd have something to talk about when he's never actually played the game.

There's a lot more to this... I've only heard about this from one source...

As Cody said, consider that one "source" an eleven year old hooligan. Do not feel detached for asking, though; false claims on walkthroughs are far too common.

Yep. Just like Final Fantasy VII has a ton of "ressurect Aries" codes,  this is a Video Game Urban Legend.

It's funny how you can still find new "ressurect Aries" codes that people are making up Tongue

The flashlight in this game is garbage... like the developers wanted to make the game harder/scarier and realized that yes, it would be harder if you were half blind all the time.

I would argue that having excessive light would just ruin the atmosphere. Of course, I am one for boosting the light setting on my tv sometimes Tongue

The problem with this rumor (which is almost as old as the game itself) is that it's based around in-game elements that are themselves highly suspicious. The glucose and distilled water in the school, the drugs, the boat controls--all of these things suggest, when examined, that they could be of future use, perhaps in a subsequent run through the game. Some have theorized that these elements are leftover from an alternate Cybil Scenario (like an RE2 Claire/Leon scenario)  that was scrapped before the final release of the game.

This aspect of the rumor is what has made it so potent over the years. Despite his poor language skills, the guy who originated it must have put a decent amount of thought into the idea.
